Franck got out of the metro at Sèvres-Babylone. Looming to his left as he reached the surface was the Lutetia. Its proximity to the Bon Marché was quite deliberate, as the hotel had been built specifically for the department store's clientele in the early 1900s, at a time when shopping trips involved long train rides and could be multi-day affairs.
